How to Submit a Manuscript to The Book Nexus

A guide for aspiring authors on our submission process, what we look for, and how to prepare your manuscript.

We Are Open for Submissions

The Book Nexus is actively seeking original manuscripts from Indian authors and authors writing about India. We publish across all genres — fiction and non-fiction.

What We Look For

Quality Over Genre

We don't restrict submissions by genre. Our catalog spans thrillers, romance, fantasy, mythology, literary fiction, horror, self-help, and more. What we look for is:

  • Compelling prose: Writing that moves, that has rhythm and purpose
  • Authentic voice: Particularly interested in stories rooted in Indian culture and settings
  • Complete manuscripts: We accept finished works only (no outlines or partials)
  • Original work: Previously unpublished manuscripts preferred, though we consider reversion rights

Manuscript Requirements

  • Format: Word document (.docx) or Markdown (.md)
  • Length: 10,000 words minimum. No maximum.
  • Language: English (with natural vernacular elements welcome)
  • Include: Title page with author name, word count, genre, and a one-paragraph synopsis

Our Process

  1. Submit via our contact form at /contact with "Manuscript Submission" in the subject
  2. Initial review (2-4 weeks): We read the opening chapters and synopsis
  3. Full read (4-8 weeks): If the opening passes, we read the complete manuscript
  4. Editorial feedback: Every submission that reaches full read receives editorial notes, regardless of our publishing decision
  5. Offer: If we choose to publish, we'll discuss terms — our standard model is digital-first with free reader access and author-favorable terms

  • Professional metadata: BISAC codes, proper categorization, schema markup
  • Digital distribution: Full-text reading on our partner author websites
  • Export formats: EPUB, PDF, Markdown, BibTeX

What We Don't Do

  • We don't charge authors for publishing (we are not a vanity press)
  • We don't require exclusivity for digital rights
  • We don't ghostwrite or offer paid editorial services
